Publishing Ethic

Chemical Technology and Engineering Application (CTEA) upholds rigorous publication ethics aligned with the ‌Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)‌ guidelines. We mandate adherence to ethical standards from all stakeholders and categorically prohibit plagiarism, data manipulation, authorship disputes, or any academic misconduct. Manuscripts failing to meet the criteria outlined in COPE Core Practices will be retracted.

Key Ethical Policies

1. ‌Originality Verification

  • All submissions undergo originality screening via ‌iThenticate‌ to detect plagiarism or redundant publication.
  • Non-original works (including self-plagiarism exceeding 20% similarity) are automatically rejected.

2. ‌Peer Review Process

  • Double-blind review‌: Reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the process.
  • Reviewers must declare conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if unqualified.
  • Reviewers evaluate submissions solely based on scientific merit, disregarding authors' affiliations or demographics.

Responsibilities of Contributors

Authors Must:

  • Certify that submissions are original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere;
  • Disclose financial conflicts (e.g., industry funding) and provide raw data upon request;
  • Cite all data sources, including proprietary software or commercial catalysts (e.g., BASF/Dow products);
  • Report safety risks (e.g., hazardous chemicals or industrial protocols) in methodology sections.

Reviewers Must:

  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscript contents and refrain from using unpublished data;
  • Verify experimental reproducibility (e.g., cross-checking Aspen Plus simulations or TEM results);
  • Alert editors to ethical concerns (e.g., duplicate submission, data fabrication).

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Decision Authority‌: The Editor-in-Chief holds final authority to accept/reject manuscripts based on peer review outcomes;
  • Transparency‌: Editors disclose institutional affiliations and recuse themselves from handling conflicted submissions;
  • Retraction Protocol‌: Published articles with proven misconduct are retracted with a public notice explaining the rationale.

Special Requirements for Chemical Engineering Studies

  • Industrial Relevance‌: Submissions must include cost-benefit analyses or energy efficiency comparisons with traditional methods;
  • Safety Compliance‌: Protocols involving high-pressure systems or toxic substances require certification from institutional safety boards;
  • Data Accessibility‌: Computational models (e.g., COMSOL files) must be shared as supplementary materials.

By adhering to these principles, CTEA ensures transparency, accountability, and trust in the dissemination of materials science research. For further details, consult our Ethics Handbook or contact the editorial office at ‌ctea@gospub.com‌.
